It has many names depending on the country and region. Such drums are used in Middle Eastern and Balkan music. Depending on the design and playing style, it has a deep low and fine high sound that can be used on both sides of the drum and/or stick. 🛠️ Production features: • Hardwood, walnut, or chestnut are used for body production. • The wood is boiled in water to be more flexible, bent into a cylindrical shape, and fastened. • Membranes are usually made of goat or sheep skin. • Different types of skins (calf, sheep, goat) are used to adjust the sound tone. • A rope zigzagging from one head to the other, extending back and forth with the drum body, provides tension. 🌍 International standards: • Bulgaria: Golem (50-55 cm) and Mal/Tapance (30-35 cm) sizes. • Turkey: Diameter varies between 60-90 cm. • Greece: Various sizes available from 12-14 inches to 3-4 feet. ✅ We work every day.
